About Christopher University Mowe

Christopher University is a private institution that received federal approval on February 25, 2015, and was granted a license by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to start offering courses on March 5, 2015. The University is situated in Mowe, Nigeria, on a large plot of land measuring more than 100 HECTARES. It is only a minute’s drive from Redemption Camp and 30 minutes from Ikeja.

Christopher University’s promoter, Translucent Management Services, has long been aware of the enormous divide between the business world and higher education. With a focus on capacity creation and management training, it has developed very strong and powerful links between the corporate sector and academia on different occasions. This development served as a very strong impetus for the founding of a university that places a significant emphasis on management sciences and relies on connections with the corporate world both domestically and abroad. The development and establishment of high-level management training programs relevant to the current and future personnel demands of business and government will result from this close collaboration and consultation between academics and industry.

In taking on this enormous task, the promoter took the time to research the state of the educational sector, observing the gaps in human and capital development and the difficulties facing business and management in the modern, global knowledge economy. Feeling compelled to act, he set out to establish a top-notch institution that would educate students and equip them with the necessary abilities, knowledge, and skills to succeed upon graduation.

The establishment of Christopher University as a contribution to the national effort aimed at enhancing access to quality university education in a location close to Lagos, a melting pot and the country’s commercial and industrial nerve center, was further prompted by the burning desire of many Nigerians for quality higher education and the limited spaces available for them to realize their ambitions and fulfill their aspiration.

Initially, the Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC), which was made up of persons with integrity, talent, and experience, was tasked with carrying out Christopher University’s goals.

The Board of Trustees (BoT), the Governing Council, and management are currently in charge of managing the university. All of these entities are under the control of the Chancellor, who is also the visitor.

Christopher University’s concept is based on the requirement for excellence in the creation of managers, academics, and businesspeople who would, in collaboration with the private sector, lead Nigeria’s economy via innovation. The goal is to create a facility that would serve as Nigeria’s and Africa’s premier center for excellence in management education.

The university’s guiding principles also include a commitment to education for independence, innovation, and global advancement. Through collaboration with the corporate sector, the university will “match theory with practice” and forge connections with a group of universities both domestically and abroad to cross-pollinate concepts directed toward academic ecumenism.

To firmly establish its philosophical foundation, the university must pursue the ideals of equity, justice, fairness, and the universality of knowledge, with its primary objective being the pursuit of knowledge and the pursuit of truth through teaching and research, as well as their application to addressing the goals, aspirations, and needs of society.

The university also wants to become an internationally renowned institution with programs that are pertinent to well-respected and in-demand business and public industries. In this way, the University will make every effort to provide the material and human resources needed to carry out its philosophy of creating a university of the highest caliber. Create connections with a group of universities both domestically and abroad to foster the exchange of ideas aimed at academic ecumenism.
